Jenny talks Britney with Meredith!

This morning I was making my breakfast and listening to The Today Show, as I always do in the mornings before work, when I heard an unmistakably familiar voice talking about Britney Spears' upcoming interview in Rolling Stone. It only took me half a second to put two and two together to realize it was Jenny Eliscu, RS Reporter and DJ on Sirius XMU (formerly Left of Center). Jenny did the interview with Brit for RS, and was on the show this morning talking with Meredith about how great the singer is doing these days. I am happy all around cuz I love Jenny, and I've always been on Team Britney!

Adele on The Today Show

I am just 2 hours away from seeing Adele at Highline, and I am so excited I actually have chills. My enthusiasm is only heightened by this video of Adele performing Chasing Pavements this morning on The Today Show. She was brilliant! See you soon, Addie (I just made up that nickname for her. You like it?) Please note, due to popular demand, Adele has added a second show at Highline and will be giving an encore performance tomorrow night before heading to Nashville with ME (not directly) to play Bonnaroo!

New Kids rock the plaza!

So I got up this morning at 4:45AM, and trekked through the chilly May rain to Rockefeller Plaza to join the throngs of screaming women eagerly awaiting a reunion concert by The New Kids on the Block! I arrived just after 6:00AM (I had to stop at the store to buy materials to make a "Happy Birthday Jordan" sign because his 38th is tomorrow), and found that the only people allowed into the blocked off area were those who had arrived on the scene 24-48 hours in advance! People had set up tents, and were actually camping out for days to see this show- their first live performance together in 15 years! So, I strolled into Dean & Deluca, grabbed a coffee and muffin, and watched the sound check through the window. About an hour later, I ventured outside and found my way behind the stage, perched myself on top of a barricade and watched the set (it would be an exaggeration to say that I "heard" the set), which included snippets from "Hangin Tough", "Please Don't Go Girl", and "Tonight".
I would normally provide a video here so that you could enjoy the performance as well, but I am currently crippled by an outdated version of Internet

*EDIT: WE NOW HAVE VIDEO!

I saw/ heard (sorta) enough to be super excited for the upcoming NKOTB tour, which finds the fellas, who are all still super hot by the way, playing the Izod Center in New Jersey both tomorrow and again on September 23. I'll be there for the fall show.
I'll also eventually post the pictures taken by one of the girls I was with this morning. She had an awesome camera, whereas mine reeks of suckitude.
The only downfall to getting up at 4:45 this morning to see NKOTB is that I am equal parts ravenous and exhausted. Yeah, it was worth it!
Happy Friday!

New Kids On the Block Reunion on Today

Ok, it looks like my prediction for today's NKOTB appearance was pretty much dead on. I opted to stay in bed and let the crazy people stand in the rain this morning, but as it turns out, there was no performance. Instead, all five members of New Kids on the Block showed up in their finest duds to tell the throngs of screaming fans that they have, indeed, reunited and have been working on an album, which they will promote on tour starting this summer. To redeem myself for my laziness this morning, I will definitely be at Rockefeller Plaza on May 16 when NKOTB perform for the public for the first time since their reunion!

REM Plays Rockefeller Plaza

I am beyond angry right now! For a week now, The Today Show hosts have been promoting the performance of REM, live "in the studio" today. "In the studio?", I thought. "I'm not going to go down there to watch through the glass window with everyone else, but if they were playing OUTSIDE, well OF COURSE I'd go! I do, afterall, only work a couple of blocks from Rockefeller Plaza."

So this morning, as Iwas making my oatmeal, I put on The Today Show, as I always do, so I could at least hear the performance. To my shock and wild dismay, REM was performing OUTSIDE on the Plaza. I could have left for work early and seen a live performance from one of my favorite bands- a band that is said to have created "indie rock" in the 90s, and still been at my desk on time.

Watch video of REM promoting their latest Studio Album, Accelerate, live ON THE PLAZA, this morning. It is sooo ON, Matt Lauer...or should I say Matt LIAR?!:

NKOTB on The Today Show!

It's official! People.com is reporting that all 5 original members of the New Kids on the Block will be reuniting for a performance out on the plaza on The Today Show April 4th!!
I would be a big fat liar if I said I wasn't considering the 3 block hike over there to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Hangin Tough!
For further proof, check out recent updates to nkotb.com! Yeah, I fer sher got chills watching that teaser video on their website!!
UPDATE 4-03-08: Ok, so I think what's happening is this: Today Meredith Viera announced that a group who is reuniting will be on the show tomorrow to make an announcement and that the group will be performing later this summer as part of the Today Show Summer Concert Series. If you look at the Today Show website, it shows that the performer for tomorrow, April 4th is actually Raheem DeVaughn, and on the schedule for May 16 is "Surprise Reunion concert". Therefore, I think the NKOTB boys will be around tomorrow, probably out on the plaza, to announce an upcoming tour and ultimately, their May 16th performance on the Today Show, wherby they'll play all our old favorites.
That's my hypothesis anyway. Take the morning of May 16th off work, just in case! ;)

Hillary Clinton snubbed by the girl in her own ad!

Most people have seen Hillary Clinton's, now infamous, TV ad about the 3AM phone call. It's being parodied all over YouTube, and was even put through the SNL wringer this week. The latest attack on Hillary's ad, is from one of the sleeping children in the ad itself! The girl, Casey Knowels, was 8 years old when the footage was shot for a different commercial, and is now a 17-year-old Obama supporter, who actually works on the Obama campaign! Oops.

She was on The Today Show this morning, making it clear to everyone that she supports neither Clinton's controversial ad, nor her campaign. Poor Hil! What are the odds? Pretty funny though :)

Lily Allen and Blondie perform Heart of Glass together on The Today Show

Blondie fan, Lily Allen, got the opportunity to perform "Heart of Glass" with her inspiration, Debbie Harry, and Blondie, on The Today Show this morning. Allen has covered "Heart of Glass" several times, in concert on her own, but today it all came full circle, as part of Today's Summer Concert Series. Actually, I thought Lily's vocals were better than Debbie's, but you have to give her credit for continuing to make music after all these years! WATCH VIDEO HERE.
