Michael Phelps to Host SNL Season Premier!

Not surprisingly, this summer's #1 household name, and the pride of America, Michael Phelps, will be hosting the 2008 season premier of Saturday Night live, to aire on September 13th.

I think the dude's badass, and I want sooo badly to find him attractive but there's something about that mouth that turns me off- WAY off!

Anyway, I think he'll be funny, and I'm goin through SNL withdrawal (actually TV in general), so I'm fer sher gonna tune in!

Tina Fey and Amy Pohler Open TFF 2008!

Tomorrow marks the start of the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, and who better to open the season than two of New Yorks finest funny women (and my personal idols) Tina Fey and Amy Pohler!?

Baby Mama, written and directed by Michael McCullers and produced by Lorne Michaels depicts Fey as a single woman who hires Pohler to act as a surrogate mother. Tina Fey, who made history as the first female head writer of Saturday Night Live has an unmistakable chemistry with fellow SNL alum Amy Pohler, and of course can be expected to deliver mad funnies!

Baby Mama premiers tomorrow, April 23 in NYC kicking off TFF 08. As always, there are loads of flicks to check out for a reasonable price at locations all over the city from April 23- May 4, and you might even see me hanging around the venues with my volunteer tshirt and badge :)

This past weekend's SNL was luke warm overall if you ask me, despite usual laugh-maker Christopher Walken hosting for what he estimated was the 100th time (counting re-runs). The show saver, for me (besides the semi-discreet fart joke at the "Walken Family Reunion") was my girl, Kristin Wiig being brilliant as always in the Surprise Party skit. Her overly-excited reactions (and neato turtleneck) get me every time. Check out her response when Walken asks whether they should get balloons. "YEEEESSS!"

SNL Project Runway Spoof

This week's SNL featured a HILARIOUS spoof of Project Runway's newest winner, Christian Siriano. Yeah, the guy personifies "fairy" and had a habit of saying the same catch phrases over and over all season, creating obvious fodder for spoofage, BUT, the fact that Amy Pohler looked and sounded EXACTLY like him was what amused me the most! Host, Amy Adams played a not-so-spot-on Heidi Klum. But, my girl Amy Pohler is comedic genius! Hopefully, I'll be able to move up the ranks quickly at UCB, and perhaps, my dreams of Amy P. and I becoming bff will come true! What? It could TOTALLY happen! ;)

ASSSSCAT at NY Comedy Festival!

My favorite fully improvised live show, ASSSSCAT, is going to be performed at Irving Plaza as part of the NY Comedy Festival on November 11th! For this special performance, I believe the original hot shots of the Upright Citizens Brigade, will be among the players, including Horatio Sanz (UCB/SNL), Amy Pohler (UCB/SNL), and Matt Besser (UCB). I've got my tickets, but you have to go to ticketmaster to get them for this show, unlike regular UCB shows. Be aware, Irving Plaza (Filmore East) is standing room only, so if you plan on coming wear comfy shoes and no skirts in case we all decide to sit on the floor!
