Tribeca Film Festival!

Im finally able to go to TFF events this year because Im not tied up in school or studying for anything!

Last night I attended the world premier of Fifty Pills. This film, directed by Theo Avgerinos, was a relatable film which follows a college freshman through the course of one day while he tries to sell 50 pills of extasy. He has to run all over Manhattan, and even to Long Island, answering pages received on his roomate's leopard printed pager, delivering the pills and collecting the money.

The protagonist, Darren, played by Lou Taylor Pucci (who you may know from Thumbsucker) did a great job of playing the awkward good kid who was tossed into the gangsta role of drug dealing just for one day. His confrontations and experiences throughout the day include an interesting encounter with Eddie Kaye Thomas, who played Shitbrick in the American Pie movies. Thomas's character, Ralphie, has a hilarious obsession with the old TV show Different Strokes.
"Its not just Willis, it's what everyone was talkin bout!"

All the while, Darrin is just trying to stay in school and win the heart of his love interest, Gracie, played by Kristen Bell of the TV show Veronica Mars.

I really enjoyed the soundtrack of the movie, which the Director told the audience, during a post-screening Q&A contains songs from bands such as LaRocca (Ireland), Joy Zipper (New York), and New Sense (Wisconsin), all of which can be found on MySpace Music, and I have already linked them!

I really enjoyed the movie, and I would totally recommend it to anyone who likes funny movies about college kids who get in trouble, drink, and do drugs. Add to that a killer indie soundtrack, and you've got a good time!
