Flashback to 1996
It's Friday, kids, and that means, I am trying to find ways to occupy myself at work. Here's a little gem of my enigmatic idol (Eddie Vedder) making a surprise fleeting appearance on The Late Show back in 1996. First, here's a little description of the incident, as it appears in the book Five Against One- the Pearl Jam Story, by Kim Neely:
"For weeks, Paul Shaffer and the Letterman band had been using Pearl Jam's "Black" as an intro and outro for commercial breaks- Letterman himself had been supplying comical, glass-shattering vocals- and Eddie, in New York to see one of the final Ramones shows..., rang up The Late Show to inform them that he'd been watching and wouldn't mind stopping by. Later that evening during the show, viewers were delighted when, during Shaffer and Letterman's running "Black" gag, Eddie walked on, sang a few bars of the song, and, just as quickly, disappeared again."
If this doesn't bring a smile to your weekend ready faces, I don't know what will. You should work on that!
