Dan Fogelberg Dies

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
American folk rock singer/ songwriter Dan Fogelberg died yesterday from cancer at the age of 56. I heard the news this morning, along with the mention of one of his most famous songs, "Same Old Lang Syne", but did not recognize his name or the song title.

After a friend later mentioned his death to me, I was encouraged to check out "Same Old Lang Syne", and being moved by the lyrics, I am making it my song pick of the week. Life is funny, usually moreso around the holidays!

Same Old Lang Syne (click HERE to listen)
By: Dan Fogelberg (August 13, 1951 – December 16, 2007)
Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried

We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totalled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation dragged
We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar
We bought a six-pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car

We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness but neither one knew how
She said she'd married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would have liked to say she loved the man
But she didn't like to lie
I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I saw doubt or gratitude
She said she saw me in the record stores
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly but the traveling was hell
We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness but neither one knew how
We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to time
Reliving in our eloquence, another 'auld lang syne'
The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out and I watched her drive away
Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
The snow turned in to rain...

Just so you know...

Last week I was challenged to not disseminate any "gossip" for a full week, and having already messed up several times, I'm still in the midst of my challenge, so if I don't post my normal witty commentary on everything that's on my mind, thats why!

Wish me luck! The sooner I get this full week of silence out of the way, the sooner this place will get alot more interesting again.

For now, just the facts, ma'am!

Britney Spears Video for Piece of Me

A sneak peak at Brit's new video for "Piece of Me" has leaked!

Revealing Article With Lauren Conrad from The Hills

Ok, I realize I am riding a fine line here, but as long as I don't talk about the content of this article, then I'm not exactly "gossiping" so, if you happen to read THIS ARTICLE on EntertainmentWeekly.com with LC about the reality aspect of The Hills, I couldn't stop you, right? Just don't ask me to elaborate on anything because I'm pretty sure that is forbidden.....for now....

This is a rather ironic LC quote from the aforementioned article:
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What do you think it is that makes your life so fascinating to people?
LAUREN CONRAD: "That's one of the biggest questions I ask people when they talk to me about the show, what the appeal is, because I don't know. I think people are just fascinated with other people's lives in general. I mean, that's why we watch any scripted show, or when we're in high school and we gossip about other people. People are just obsessed with other people's lives. I don't know whether it's kind of a way to escape their own, or something to follow...I really couldn't tell you."

THIS IS NOT GOSSIP! I HAVE NOT GOSSIPED TODAY!

Love is a Losing Game

FACTS, NOT GOSSIP:

Wino's new vid for "Love is a Losing Game" has been pieced together with stock footage. I'm sure this was a way better idea than letting her try to pull off a Britney-esque drunken masterpiece. Addictions aside, this really is a beautiful song. She may be a little off her rocker at the moment, but she's dead on with this one!

For you I was a flame,
Love is a losing game
Five story fire as you came,
Love is losing game

One I wish I never played,
Oh, what a mess we made
And now the final frame,
Love is a losing game

Played out by the band,
Love is a losing hand
More than I could stand,
Love is a losing hand

Love Is a Losing Game

Self professed profound
Til' the chips were down
Know you’re a gambling man
Love is a losing hand

Tho' I battled blind,
Love is a fate resigned
Memories mar my mind,
Love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds,
And laughed at by the Gods
And now the final frame,
Love is a losing game

This is Soooo NOT gossip! LC on The Hills finale

The Hills finale is TONIGHT! Below is Lauren's hint as to what might happen. I, myself will not speculate nor say anything further on the subject. I am simply reporting the facts and a direct quote (I'm trying not to gossip for a lil while) Anyhooo....I'm super excited for tonight! Yay!

"I gotta be honest, I haven’t seen the final episode yet. . . I know that something happens in our lives, but I don’t know what they’re showing. . . Something very exciting happens in my life. I can’t tell you what, obviously, because it has to air, but it was a life-changing something.”

Guaranteed nominated for a Grammy!

Guaranteed, from Eddie Vedder's first solo album, the Into The Wild soundtrack, has been nominated for a Grammy for "Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media".

Back in the 90s, Pearl Jam could have calred less about Grammy recognition, but I, for one, am proud of Eddie's nomination!

The 50th Grammy Awards show is scheduled to air February 10, 2008 at 8pm ET/PT on CBS.

HILL-arious!

Ok, since we all know The Hills is fakersville, that means that, potentially, the "characters" could be re-cast, right? Well, imagine what it would be like if James Franco (from Spiderman) and Mila Kunis (from That 70's Show) played JustinBobby and Audrina?! You don't have to imagine, cuz they've already done it:
